Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is hiring a Senior Principal Electrical Engineer - Hardware Architect with a focus on hardware architecture, COTS software solutions, network engineering, and Information Technology (IT) systems engineering.
This position will be based out of our Rancho Bernardo, CA location.
Duties Include:
- Develop and maintain detailed system architecture documentation for complex IT systems.
- Function as an interface between Systems Engineering, Integration & Test (SEIT) team and the Hardware Infrastructure team.
- Utilize the Deficiency Report (DR) in accordance with the Software Review Board (SRB) process to determine hardware content for Agile Integrated Functional Capability (IFC) releases.
- Recommend design improvements via the Change Request (CR) process.
- Work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment working closely with other Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) in a lab and production environment.
- Collaborate with other engineers to architect a system to meet design requirements and stakeholder needs.
- Review support requests from the field and provide troubleshooting steps and/or creating DRs to provide solutions in a future IFC
- Review drawings and system build instructions
- Coordinate teams to upgrade lab systems to the latest IFC
- Developing internal software tools to improve process of organizing, documenting, and visualizing information.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) field with 9 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master's degree in a STEM field with 7 years of related engineering experience; OR a PhD in a STEM field with 4 years of related engineering experience.
- Experience with systems engineering practices
- Experience with Microsoft Visio and other Office products to express engineering documentation
- Active DoD Top Secret clearance with an investigation or re-investigation within the last 6 years OR be enrolled in continuous evaluation.
- Ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access (SAP/PAR). This SAP/PAR must be obtained prior to commencement of employment and must be obtained within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company to meet its business needs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to develop and maintain Python scripts and UML diagrams
- Familiarity with one or more of the following:
- Agile development methodology
- Jira or similar issue tracking system
- Version control such as SVN and Git
- Department of Defense Architecture Framework (DoDAF)
- Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)
- Interface Control Documents (ICDs)
- System Design Documents (SDDs)
- The following tools or languages: Python, UML, Sphinx, REST, YAML, Jinja
- The following technologies: Microsoft Operating Systems, Active Directory, Fibre Channel Storage Area Networks, Layer 2 and 3 networking, VPN, IPSec, Storage technologies, UNIX, Linux, Glassfish, Docker, Virtualization, Physical and Cyber Security"
Salary Range: $133,000 - $199,600
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
